Accessibility

The accessibility standard this site targets and how to report a barrier.

The standard

WGX targets WCAG 2.2 level AA. Accessibility is checked while a tool is being built, not audited afterwards: automated checks run against every page in the test suite, and keyboard and screen-reader behavior is reviewed before a tool ships.

What that means in practice

  • Every control can be reached and operated with a keyboard, in a sensible order.
  • Focus is always visible.
  • Inputs have real labels, and errors say what to change rather than only that something is wrong.
  • Results are announced to screen readers when they update.
  • Text and interface colors meet AA contrast in both light and dark appearance.
  • Nothing depends on color alone, and animation respects a reduced-motion setting.
  • Pages work at 200% zoom and on small screens without horizontal scrolling.

Known gaps

Third-party advertising is not under our control and may not meet the same standard. Ads are kept out of the path between a control and its result so that a tool remains usable regardless.

The Image Editor is the one workspace on the site built around a canvas, so it is worth saying plainly what it does and does not offer. Every action there has a keyboard route: cropping and resizing take typed numbers as well as dragged handles, the sampler moves with the arrow keys, text is positioned with them too, and every step in the history is a button. What it does not offer is a description of the picture itself — a screen reader is told the size, the format and the steps applied, never what is in the image.

Reporting a barrier

If something blocks you, tell us what you were trying to do, the page you were on and the assistive technology you use, through the contact page. Accessibility reports are treated as bugs, not suggestions.
